Marvin E. Stephens

Marvin Eugene Stephens, 60, of Martinsburg, died Saturday in Winchester Medical Center.

He was the son of the late Charles C. and Florence R. (Largent) Stephens.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He was a 1953 graduate of Martinsburg High School and a 1959 graduate of the Paul Smith College for Hotel and Restaurant Management.  He served in the Navy from 1953-61, the Air Force from 1961-78 and was retired from the Air National Guard.

He leaves one son, Douglas A. Stephens of Martinsburg; one daughter, Cassandra L. Shade of Martinsburg; two brothers, Charles Stephens of Martinsburg and Ernest Stephens of Florida; one sister, Marie Thompson of Martinsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rosedale Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce R. McClendon officiating.

Interment will be in the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Services for Marvin E. Stephens, 60, of Martinsburg, who died Saturday at the Winchester Medical Center, were held Tuesday morning at the Rosedale Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce R. McClendon officiating.

Interment was in Tuscarora Cemetery.

Bearers were John W. Cushwa, Michael Cushwa, Robert Jones, James B. Smith, J. Christopher Smith and David W. Smith.

Honorary bearers were Leon Bovey, Harold Cushwa, Ned Noll, Lyle Noll, Paul Sencindiver and Richard Augustine.

Soloist Jeanie Cushwa sang, “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “How Great Thou Art.”

The congregation sang, “Amazing Grace.” Organist was Ellen Keefer.

Eulogy was presented by Becky Jones.

Military graveside services by the VFW Post No. 896 and American Legion Post No. 14 members were Commander Paul Besaw, Ted Ruppenthal, Fred McKee, Gary Miller, Charles Murphy, Floyd Spong and Paul Arvin.
