John W. Smith
Services were held today at 11 a.m. at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church for John W. Smith, well-known 69-year-old farmer, orchardist and bank director, who died Saturday afternoon at his home in the Tuscarora section. He had been in ill health for several years.
He farmed and operated an orchard in the county and was a member and elder of Tuscarora Church. He was the oldest active memberof the board of directors of the Old National Bank.
A native of the county, he was born at the home, a son of the late James H. and Emily H.Thatcher Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary K. Brown Smith, at home; two daughters--Mrs. Mary E. Dalzell, Alexandria, Va.; Miss MarthaC. Smith, at home; daughter and two sons by former marriage--Mrs. Elsie L. Brown, William C. and James B. Smith, Tuscarora; and eight grandchildren.
The body eas removed from Rosemont, Kogelschatz and Coffman Funeral Home, to the church at 10 a.m. to lie in state until time of service, conducted by the Rev. John Rogers.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Directors of the Old National Bank served as honorary bearers.
