Barbara A. Smith
Barbara Ann Smith, 62, beloved wife of James B. Smith Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 30, 2004.
Born Oct 7, 1942, in Frostburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Sara Preston Crump.
Mrs. Smith had been employed by the Berkeley County Board of Education Office for the past 25 years, having retired on Sept 20, 2004. Previously, she was employed by the employment Security Office and as executive secretary at Potomac Edison.
She was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church having served as Sunday School teacher for 18 years, Presbyterian Women treasurer for four years, and was historian for a short period of time.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, John Christopher Smith and David William Smith, both of Martinsburg, and Laurinda Gail Craver and husband, Keith, of Hagerstown; one sister, Carolyn Michael of Bunker Hill, one granddaughter, Olivia Marie Craver of Hagerstown, and mother-in-law Laura Bailey of Bunker Hill.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by nephew, Brian Taylor Michael.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Funeral
Chapel in Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Clark DeSarro-Raynal will officiate. Burial
will be in Tuscarora Presbyterian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the
funeral chapel.
