Elizabeth C. Shade
Elizabeth C. Shade, 92, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, November
25, 2001, at City Hospital.
Born July 14, 1909, in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Silas and
Anna Ewing Cather.
She was a 1927 graduate of Handley High School and received her nursing degree
from Winchester Memorial Hospital in 1930. She was a registered nurse at
Winchester Memorial Hospital, where she served as night supervisor from 1930
until 1960.
She was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Scott Shade; and was the last of
her immediate family, preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Granville
Cather; and one sister, Dorothy Bageant.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2001, at the Brown
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clark S. Raynal and the Rev. David G. Coffey Jr.,
officiating. Private interment was in Tuscarora Cemetary.
