Obituary – July 11, 1969 - Cecil Noll, 53, Dies; Served in
Legislature
Cecil Steven Noll, 53, of 401 West King street, was unexpectedly stricken early
Thursday afternoon at his home and died enroute to City Hospital.
Born October 15, 1915, in Berkeley County, he was the son of Blanche Miller
Noll, of Nollville, and the late Obed C. Noll.
He was maintenance engineer at the Internal Revenue Service for the past few
years and from 1933 until 1960 was employed with Interwoven Mills. Mr. Noll was
a member of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church and was an elder of the church.
A prominent Democrat, he served two terms in the West Virginia Legislature as a
delegate from Berkeley County. He was active in the Girls’ Softball League,
serving as a manager. He attended county schools and graduated from Martinsburg
High School in the class of 1933.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Noll is survived by his wife, D. Pauline Williams
Noll, at the home; one son Cecil Stephen Noll, at the home; one daughter, Miss
Patricia Ann Noll, at the home; four brothers – Ned M., Lyle W., and Obed C.
Noll, Jr., all of Nollville; Robert L. Noll, Route 3; and two nieces and two
nephews. One brother, Max C. Noll, preceded him in death.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Brown Funeral Home with the
Rev. David Coffey, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Tuscarora
Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9.
The family has requested that memorial remembrances take the form of
contributions to the Tuscarora Church Building Fund.
July 14, 1969 - Noll Rites
Rites for Cecil Steven Noll, of 401 West King street, who died unexpectedly
Thursday afternoon, were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home
by the Rev. David Coffey and the Rev. Hayward Y. Rowh. Interment was in the
Tuscarora Cemetery.
Pallbearers, all elders of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, were Harold Cushwa,
William Smith, Roger Young, Scott Shade, Willis Roberson, Stribling Snodgrass
and Dayton Canby.
The services were largely attended and there were many flowers.
Members of the Berkeley County Girls Softball League attended the services in a
group.
