Mary Raney Kilgore
Mrs. Mary Raney Kilgore, 80, widow of Virgil R. Kilgore, of
Nollville, Rt. 1, died this morning at her home following an extended illness.
Born in the Tuscarora section of Berkeley County Feb. 28, 1896, she was a
daughter of G. Hamilton and Lydia Sencindiver Raney. She was a 50-year member of
St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Her husband died July 28, 1959, and a daughter, Rebecca Ellen Kilgore, died
March 25, 1946.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence A. (Almeda) Pittsnogle, of Nollville,
with whom Mrs. Kilgore made her home; two grandchildren, Keith and Kristi Lynn
Pittsnogle, two sisters, Mrs. Theodore (Kathleen) Bower, and Mrs. Pansy
Armstrong, both of Harrisburg, Pa.
A nephew, Homer Raney, of Harrisburg, who grew up in the Kilgore Home; two
brothers, Armine and Reginald Raney, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Candy, preceded
her in death.
Services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home by her
pastor, the Rev. Ronald I. Fisher, with interment in Tuscarora Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
