Glenville Franklin 'Wink' Hess Sr.
Glenville Franklin 'Wink' Hess Sr., 55, died unexpectedly Thursday in City Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1926 in Berkeley county, Hess was a resident of Nollville. He was a son of the late John Milburn and Susan Grubb Hess.
An employee for the Berkeley Lumber company for 25 years, Hess later went into business as a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Assemblies ofbGod Church, served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member and past president of the Tuscarora Ruritan Club.
Hess is survived by his widow, Florence Lucas Hess, whom he married Dec. 22, 1952, one son, Glenville F. Hess Jr., and one daughter, Pauline Hess, all at home.
Hess is also survived by three brothers, Arnold Bruce Hess, Inwood; John H. Hess Jr., Rt 1 Martinsburg; Gary W. Hess, Hedgesville; and two sisters, Ann Elizabeth Hess Lucas, Rt 1, Martinsburg, and Priscilla Hess Greenfield, Rt 1, Martinsburg. He was precede in death by two brothers, Harold and Terry Hess, and a sister, Evelyn Hess.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
