O. Howard Cushwa

O. Howard Cushwa, well-known orchardist and farmer, died unexpectedly at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. January, 12, 1972.  He had been in his  usual health until stricken at his home.

A resident of Tuscarora, he was born in Berkeley County, December 5, 1897, son of Otho Harrison and Mary Myers Cushwa, and had spent his entire life in the county.

Mr. Cushwa was an active member of the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church and the Chriistian Endeavor.  He had served as an elder in the church and was a deacon at the time of his death.

His wife, Mrs. Pearl Donaldson Cushwa, died March 20, 1963.

Surviving are three sons- H. Kenneth Cushwa,Harold Lee Cushwa, Donald Cushwa; two daughters - Mrs. Bruce (Evelyn) Kitchen, and Mrs. Willis (Mildred) Roberson; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was the last of his immediate family.

Services will be conducted Saturday, January 15 at 11 am. at the Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. David Coffey, former pastor of the Tuscarorara Presbyterian Churac, and the Rev. Donald Cover, of Wheeling.  Interment  will be in the Tuscaroorara Cemetery.

The family has requested that memorial remembrances take the form of contributions to the Tuscarorara Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
