David F. Catrow

David Franklin Catrow, 86, of Poor house Road, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at his home.

Born Dec 23, 1912, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Charles david and Nellie Cushwa Catrow.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie P. Foltz, in 1979.  They were married June 22, 1935.

He was an orchardist and farmer.

He was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, and trustee.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Booton Catrow; two daughters, Sylvia D. Hunt of New Market, Va., and Linda D. New of Martinsburg; three sisters, Elsie S. Catrow of Martinsburg, Katherine C. Miller of Williamsport and Laura E. Bailey of Bunker hill, W.Va.; a granddaughter, twogreat-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Michelle Ewing of Charleston, W.Va., and Terry Brining of Martinsburg; three step grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn lee Catrow.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Tuscarora Presbyterian Church.  Dr. Bruce McClendon and lay minister John W. Cushwa will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2335 Tuscarora Pike, Martinsburg, WV 25401; or Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

David Franklin Catrow, 86, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at his home.

He was the son of the late Charles David and Nellie Cushwa Catrow.

He was a prominent orchardist and farmer his entire life. His hobby was making clocks.

He is survived by his second wife, Barbara Booton Catrow, at home; two daughters, Sylvia D. Hunt, of New Market, Va., and Linda New of Martinsburg; two stepdaughters, Michelle Ewing of Charleston and Terry Brining of Martinsburg; three sisters, Elsie S. Catrow of Martinsburg, Katherine C. Miller of Williamsport, Md., and Laura E. Bailey of Bunker Hill; one granddaughter, Karen S. Dotson, of Culpeper, Va., whom he raised as a child; three step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Ollie P. Foltz, and a daughter, Carolyn Lee Catrow.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, with
Dr. Bruce McClendon and Lay Minister John W. Cushwa officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Services for David F. Catrow, 86, of Martinsburg, who died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, were held Monday, Jan. 11, 1999 at the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bruce R. McClendon and Lay Pastor John W. Cushwa officiating. Interment was in the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Bearers were Steve Shank, Paul Sites, Chris Smith David Smith, Larry Carper, Jim Smith, Gary Miller and Sonny Hess.

Amy Sencindiver played “Chariots of Fire” on the flute. David Smith, great-nephew, read a poem entitled “Be Still and Know.” Jeanie Cushwa sang “Amazing Grace.” The congregation sang “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” and “God Will Take Care of You.” The organist was Wendell Roberson.

Arrangements were by the Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg.
