Obituary – April 12, 2005
Martinsburg – Noah Leon Bovey Jr., 84, of Martinsburg, died Monday, April 11,
2005, at Heartland.
Born July 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Noah Leon Bovey Sr. and Annetta
Herndon Hedges Bovey. His wife, Jane Carelene Canby Bovey, of 46 years, preceded
him in death.
He was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, where he was a past
superintendent of Sunday school. Leon was a charter member of the Tuscarora
Ruritan Club and a 1939 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
Mr. Bovey was retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years of
government service. Prior to his employment with the Postal Service he worked
for Interwoven Stocking Company in the Data Processing Division, Potomac Edison
and Potomac Construction Company. A World War II veteran, he served his country
in the Pacific Theatre of Operation.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Dawn Bovey Clites and her husband, David.
In addition, he is survived by a brother, Don Victor Bovey and wife, Pauline; a
sister, Frances Elaine Bovey Fierro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were brothers, Bruce Delmar Bovey, Samuel Robert Bovey,
Max Derwood Bovey; and sisters, Dorothy Bovey Miller and Mary Ruth Bovey
Roudabousch.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at
Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Clark DeSarro-Raynal officiating.
