James R. Allman

James R. Allman, 68, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at City Hospital.

Born June 6, 1937, in Rockingham County, Va., he was the son of the late Walter and Roda Wenger Allman.

He was the owner of Jim Allman Pre-Owned Vehicles.

He attended Second Baptist Church. He was a veteran, who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Martinsburg Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Miller Allman, four sons, James Daniel Allman of Berkeley Springs, Richard Allman of Martinsburg, Charles Roberts of Baltimore, Md. And Douglas Allen of Inwood; two daughters, Julie Botkins and Joy Smith, both of Harrisonburg, Va.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clyde, Carl, Homer and Gary Allman, all of Harrisonburg, Va.; and one sister and her spouse, Bernice and Gene Bowers of Harrisonburg, Va.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Strickler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at the Brown Funeral Home, with the Rev. David L. Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Tuscarora Cemetery, with military graveside services.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and suggest memorial contributions to Second Baptist Church, 911 N. High Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Allman Services


Funeral services for James R. Allman, 68, who died Friday Aug. 12, 2005, were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. David L. Miller officiating. Military graveside services were held at Tuscarora Cemetery.

Bearers were Rusty Miller, Doug Allen, Danny Allman, Kris Allman, Arron Miller and Charles Roberts.

Members of the Combined Honor Guard were Wayne Borden, Kennon Hope, Martin Swope, Frank Barna, Harry Michener and Sam Boynton.

Armed Forces Representatives were SSG Charles A. McGraw, SSG Richard E. Cotta and SSG Timothy K. Burkhart.

Jeff Miller sang “Amazing Grace” and shared memories.
