Christian Education
Opportunities for enriching one's spiritual life abound at Tuscarora. In Sunday School, we learn about God and God's love for us in Jesus Christ. There are Sunday School classes for all ages-Pre K (ages 3 and 4 - new class), K through grade 2, grade 3 through 5, grade 6 and up, all using the Bible Quest curriculum, and an adult class using the David C. Cook materials. We study the Bible--what it says and what it means for our lives. We learn how to pray, share, love and serve.
Two new programs have recently been added to our education opportunities - Children’s church for ages 3 through 7 at 11:20 a.m. each Sunday morning and the youth group for middle and high school age children on the 1st and 3rd Sunday, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
During the summer, our youth and many others from the community participate in a fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School. During the fall and winter adult bible studies are offered to enhance our knowledge of the scriptures as well as our spiritual well being. At Christmas, our young people enrich many of the congregation and community with caroling and scripture. They also share a wonderful Christmas program that tells the story of Christ's birth.
We learn in worship. Every Sunday morning, children are invited to come forward for the children’s sermon. Once a month, the children’s choir offers an anthem of praise to God. In addition, children and teens alike play an active role by serving as acolytes, or by reading, speaking or sharing their other talents.
Many other activities are scheduled throughout the year. Children of all ages can enjoy field trips, service projects, recreational outings, picnics, parties, musical programs and more.
The Christian Education Committee is committed to providing quality bible-based programs that will enrich the lives of all who attend Tuscarora.
After more than 250 years, the atmosphere at Tuscarora remains nurturing and spiritual. Whether a preschooler or an adult, you will be warmly received in the educational ministry of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church. By God's grace, we may grow in our love for Christ and one another.
