Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission
The purpose of the Rescue Mission is to be of service to the community, a help and encouragement to those, who for the time being are unable to help themselves. It is an agency that provides a work-therapy program geared to helping some to become rehabilitated, a shelter for those without a roof over their head, a home for the homeless, a friendly inn where food is found for the body.
In an eleven-month period: 18,193 people attended chapel services, 58, 096 meals were served free of charge, and lodging was provided for 16,587 people.
It endeavors to meet, inasmuch as it is able, the physical needs of all who seek out its help in order that it may minister to the recipient's spiritual needs. The mission is a place where Christianity is practiced every day of the year. It is dedicated to helping those the church does not reach. The Rescue Mission through Jesus Christ looks beyond their faults and sees their need.
