Christmas Joy Offering
The Christmas Joy Offering is a Presbyterian tradition which has been in
existence for over seventy years.
Since 1991 the distribution
of funds is 50 percent to the Board of Pensions and 50 percent to the
Presbyterian related racial ethnic schools and colleges through the National
Ministries Division of the General Assembly Council. It is one of the four
special offerings designated by the General Assembly. The Board of
Pensions uses their share to support retired and active church workers and their
spouses and families. The offering is collected usually the Sunday before
Christmas. This provides congregations a direct way to support those in the
church family who need assistance during difficult times.
